Numerical Evaluation of Singular Multivariate Normal Distributions
We present an eecient and accurate method to evaluate multivariate normal probabilities with arbitrary singular correlation matrices. The new method is applied to the construction of simultaneous conndence intervals and simultaneous all pairwise conndence intervals for multinomial proportions when the sample size is suuciently large.
متن کاملApproximating the Distributions of Singular Quadratic Expressions and their Ratios
Noncentral indefinite quadratic expressions in possibly non- singular normal vectors are represented in terms of the difference of two positive definite quadratic forms and an independently distributed linear combination of standard normal random variables. This result also ap- plies to quadratic forms in singular normal vectors for which no general representation is currently available. The ...
متن کاملComplex singular Wishart matrices and applications∗
In this paper, complex singular Wishart matrices and their applications are investigated. In particular, a volume element on the space of positive semidefinite m×m complex matrices of rank n < m is introduced and some transformation properties are established. The Jacobian for the change of variables in the singular value decomposition of general m × n complex matrices is derived. Then the dens...
متن کاملSingular value correlation functions for products of Wishart random matrices
We consider the product ofM quadratic random matrices with complex elements and no further symmetry, where all matrix elements of each factor have a Gaussian distribution. This generalises the classical Wishart-Laguerre Gaussian Unitary Ensemble with M = 1. In this paper we first compute the joint probability distribution for the singular values of the product matrix when the matrix sizeN and t...
متن کاملIndistinguishability of Absolutely Continuous and Singular Distributions
It is shown that there are no consistent decision rules for the hypothesis testing problem of distinguishing between absolutely continuous and purely singular probability distributions on the real line. In fact, there are no consistent decision rules for distinguishing between absolutely continuous distributions and distributions supported by Borel sets of Hausdorff dimension 0. It follows that...
